Goals

The Health Insurance Committee has a long tradition and was founded in 2009. The committee's goal is to address current challenges in health and long-term care insurance, particularly interface issues, on a scientific basis. This also focuses on the political and practical implementation of solutions. This results in a broad spectrum of topics that the committee has addressed in recent years.

While the committee traditionally deals with financing and competition in health insurance, in recent years the focus has shifted to issues of care and prevention, also taking digitalization into account. In 2023, the committee decided to take a holistic view of health and long-term care insurance, so it is currently also examining issues related to long-term care insurance. Relevant topics here include the financing of long-term care insurance, the prevention of long-term care needs, and informal care.

In the committee, we try to identify current challenges and address and discuss them during our meetings. The committee brings together researchers and people from health insurance companies or other companies and institutions.

The committee meets annually as part of the DGGÖ's annual conference and, if possible, once again in the fall. The one-day fall conferences take place at various locations or online, and the program typically includes keynote speeches and discussions.
